Do not settle for just a liner

Capillary Bunkers is the full-scale bunker system: optimal drainage and the right moisture in the sand for players, and far less work for the crew. It adheres to USGA bunker construction standards and is considered the gold standard of bunker construction, used on some of the top 100 courses in the world, from Ryder Cup to PGA venues.

Anatomy of a Capillary bunker

Four layers.
One dry bunker.

Tap a layer to read what it does. Then make it rain and watch 100 inches an hour disappear through the sand while the liner keeps the base and faces moist.

Three parts

Liner. Edge.
Wash Box.

Each part solves one bunker problem for good. Together they end washouts, contaminated sand and edge rebuilds.

Capillary Bunker Liner01

Capillary Bunker Liner

Drainage and moisture, mastered
  • Drains 100 inches per hour
  • Homogenous two inch Capillary Material layer
  • Withstands over 1000 PSI, no clogging of the drainage
  • Wicks moisture back up so faces hold and lies stay firm
  • Fifteen-year structural and drainage performance guarantee
Capillary Edge and Edgevantage02

Capillary Edge and Edgevantage

Design integrity, for life
  • Mounted vertically and locked into the liner with barbed spears
  • Stackable to any height, or a single layer
  • Supports natural turf, native edges, revetted or synthetic
  • Integrated moisture cups keep the sod hydrated
  • No more trimming, reshaping or rebuilding edges every decade
Capillary Wash Box03

Capillary Wash Box

Sand restored, not replaced
  • Washes algae, silt, clay, debris and fines out of the sand in place
  • Lighter contaminants float off into the drain line, clean sand sinks
  • Restores colour, percolation and playing properties
  • Cuts sand costs by two thirds
  • The only bunker liner with the option to wash the sand to new

Capillary Wash Box

Wash the sand.
Do not replace it.

Smaller, lighter particles float, sand sinks. The Wash Box turns that simple physics into a five-step routine that restores the sand to its original colour and drainage.

  1. Skim
    01

    Skim

Skim the surface debris as usual after a storm, nothing more.

  2. Flood
    02

    Flood

Connect a hose to the irrigation system and flood the bunker in place.

  3. Separate
    03

    Separate

Silt, clay, algae and organic fines are lighter than sand. They float, the sand sinks.

  4. Drain
    04

    Drain

The contaminated water runs off through the Capillary Wash Box into the drain line.

  5. Play
    05

    Play

The sand settles back clean, bright and free-draining. No trucks, no new sand.

Superintendents on Capillary

After the storm

“Before we started, around fifty per cent of our bunkers simply did not drain. In the first three months after we renovated we had 22 inches of rain. There is not a bunker out there that has held water or washed out, or retained any silt. They have been the best addition to this golf course.”

Kyle SwartOakwing Golf Club

“After 250 mm of rain, no washout, no nothing. The bunkers we did not redo, a complete mess. After this, we will redo all our bunkers with Capillary.”

Peter John DownieClearwater Bay Golf

“I am a big fan of the Wash Box. To have the ability to remove fines and algae, and bring sand back to its original pure-white state is amazing. I am never worried about bunker consistency now.”

Mark ReidThe Breakers, Palm Beach

“We have had three big rainstorms, three inches overnight, since we finished the installation, and we have found little or no washouts in our new bunkers. I am getting compliments every single day about how they look and play.”

Andy ScottNewnan Country Club

“I like the fact that the concrete is a homogenous two inch layer. With Capillary Bunkers, I knew that as long as it came out of the truck properly mixed, it would give me that solid two inch layer.”
